S’more

Some days it’s pitch perfect. Some days it sucks.
Some are ebullient. Some days give no fucks.

Some folks are awful & some seem so great.
Sometimes I wonder who’s real & who’s fake.

Sometimes life flows smoothly; sometimes it’s rough.
Somedays it’s too much & next not enough.

Somewhere is someone who has love for me.
Somewhere I hide so that love cannot see.

Somehow I must live this life to its end.
Someday I will make a fuckable friend.

Somehow my work will come to fruition.
Someday I’ll manifest intuition.

Someone will find me & fall for my words.
Someone will raise me up higher than birds.

Fatigue

Tired of you being on my mind…
Mired in disgust, with so much unkind.

Worried for innocent souls between.
Hurried from health & humored by screens.

Petty with love & jealous of strength.
Ready to tarnish a whole life’s length.

Weary of calculating damage.
Leery of trusting you to manage…

The hope & funds required to support.
Cede all the dishonest tears you squirt.

Wall’s getting thick; coated in your fears.
All makes sense, you’d resent proud queers.

Withdrawal from kith & kin’s been noticed.
This quarrel: destructive as locusts.

Harrowed by all you did & will do.
My marrow’s tired of thinking of you.

Force Majeure

If living under monarchy;
Or, oppressive patriarchy…

Look to the counterculture there.
See if freedom could come to bear.

Lend your self to activism.
Study both sides of each schism.

Inform yourself with facts; not gists.
Arm yourself with truth & resist.

Don’t ease up when change is in sight.
Focus & see that it’s done right.

Freedom of speech: even the strange.
People’s pressure has birthed much change.

Boycott, march & certainly vote.
Make the few ultra rich take note.

Phone Home

Most folks aspire to cash & cars.
I dream of life amongst the stars.

Chasing comets, skirting black holes.
Outer space & galaxy goals.

Speed of light smears stars to rainbows.
Send a poet to words compose.

Leave behind the exhausted Earth.
Give her some time for her rebirth.

Alien elixirs to find.
Heal our Earth & also mankind.

There are answers here we ignore.
What differ’s on alien shores?

Diplomacy between strangers.
No room left for baser angers.

But, room enough to spread & roam.
Not just earth: universal home.

Gulp

The tide, she high & I am holding on.
About to drown by underwater yawn.

The level has risen up to my eyes.
What sort of remedy would you advise?

I wore swimsuit & cap; ready to wade.
But, for a snorkel, I’d both of them trade.

Fish smirking by & pucker up bubbles.
Still treading water & soon in trouble.

I visit this undersea neighborhood.
Though, I did not plan to be here for good.

Lockers

Just one thing left from teenage years.
Awkward energied sense of fear.

Still try to fly under radars.
I do not want to join the stars.

Prefer to be home; cozy thrall.
Want one on one; not one & all.

For, conversing’s what I do best.
Just one connection; hang the rest.

Teenage patina won’t rub off.
All other traits have grown to slough…

Their outgrown training wheels to fly.
But, my weakest link: teenage shy.

Naked nerves ride out on cracked voice…
Still serves in making humbler choice.

Crack

Here’s to the jokes only to yourselves told.
To laughs that only your humors behold.

A funny phrase with no exposition.
From tongue to head, it worms on a mission.

Say it aloud & it’s never the same.
Just your cognition is fit for its game.

Recalled at most inappropriate times…
In grieving churches or courts’ juried crimes.

Maybe, if lucky, there’s one other wit.
Ones who, like you, the hilarious get.

Most, though, we hoard for the rainiest days.
In midst of the worst…a punchline will play.

Clever, to see & say, “that’s just for me.”
Private, medicinal laughs guaranteed.

Tower: Inverted

Our nerves are shot & still, we try.
Living under fire to get by.

Persevere thru prosecution.
Out is thru this revolution.

One eye skyward & one ahead.
This constant state of war & dread.

Conflicted, we keep trucking on.
When backs touch walls we find our brawn.

The state of man has always been…
Violence, conflict & basest sin.

Angry boys resenting mother.
Ugly shown to every other.

Some rise above with grit & will.
Some coast right thru by being still.

Wealth parties as their ivory leans.
Soon, it will rain down all their means.

Keen

I feel blood leap from my balls to my brain.
It plumps to nourish an inspired refrain.

I repeat it til I know it by heart.
Then, I write it down & I make it smart.

I invite the flow; or it takes over.
Herding words into form; a word drover.

Slotting in place like mahjong on acid.
All the way to an end; muse gone flaccid.

I sign my name & I set up the scene.
Random bolts in bottles; keen on a screen.

Beat

We trudge thru our drudge; head kept down.
We judge & we budge life around.

We break from comfort punching clocks.
We fake our import, crowing cocks.

We’re loosing trouble in new finds.
We’re choosing bubbles in our minds.

We fight the powers dark & foul.
We frightened flowers facing plows.

We creatures all habituate.
We feature boredom intimate.

When day’s done with souls embarking.
We fall with sun to sleep’s darkling.
