Sunburned

Recall our youth when dawn’s light burned.
When night, by day, away was turned.

Fridays seventy-two hours long.
Held in a thrall by drugs & song.

Weekends contained only their nights.
Sun broke dawn & we slept thru light.

Eyes uncracked til late afternoon.
Indoors til outside’s lit by moon.

Day was meant to be slept away.
Evening’s dark was when we would play…

& play we did; ever so much.
Chemically fueled questing & such.

We sprinted home to beat bright wrath.
Now, the opposite is my path.

Revels in light & dreams at dark.
Now, wakeful midnights stand out stark.

I see the world through a Painter’s eyes and process it with a Poet's Heart....it's quite a harsh place for the soul. It scratches and wears your true self down, at times, but the Beauty is Addictive. I feel for everyone I encounter. Everyone I encounter is a teacher if I'll let them be. I Empathize with everyone I talk to & I Think about Everything-LEVi
