Thrice Fooled

What; don’t they see it coming by now?
Lying’s Donald Trump’s only knowhow.

Now, as we head into the midterms…
Farmers, workers, don’t bite his fake worms.

Do not buy a single new promise.
He does not know how to be honest.

They’ve either fucked you; or screwed your kin.
Say, don’t you wanna let normal win?

Vote for people; not money on tap.
Give all the old sleepy beasts dirt naps.

Start a new covenant’s roughest drafts.
Poor give to rich & the Devil laughs.

Despite disillusionment; there’s hope.
There’s a way thru this opera soap.

Vote in change & then hold it to fire.
Reform, amendments & all new hires.

Never “great” but could still head that way.
Easy; send lying money away.

Bound

I think of the little magick I’ve done.
Asked for family, love, money & fun.

Family, I got…Though, not as I’d wished for.
Though Time let gratitude win that fore.

Love was a killer; Shakespearean Style.
Inside my head, that’s the name on that file.

There’s money; I made & money; I lost.
My Belief in money; is all that cost.

Fucking Fun! Yeah, there was a lot of that…
Caused imbalance; I’ve spent years lying flat.

So yes. Seems magick works, abstractly so.
Though…Must be flexible; shit goes like it goes.

Because, often, magick taps dominoes.
Wild chain reactions set out for their goals.

Between which, chaos & fate steer those wheels…
Effective spells demand both brains & feels.

…On Top

Stopped dating death during the plague.
Yes, I meant that to be totally vague.

Well, of course, I meant the pandemic.
Dating yourself with pop art’s endemic.

“The Death” I got was a constructive one.
Made me take minutes to prolong his fun.

That anthropomorphic calcified bitch!
He knew the whole time there’d be bait & switch.

Pain & the fear of him, he hoped would freeze…
Me in time. Then, I rallied & said, “PLEASE!”

So yeah, 2019’s when we broke up.
“Terminal”: got longer. Cherry said, “sup.”

For, I’ve a handful of years past false fate.
Now, time’s icing on unexpected cake.

Godbothering

I respect the faithful…they’re feeding their souls.
I resent the fervent…raking hell’s coals.

They can’t wait for bloody armageddon.
They can’t wait to be raptured to heaven.

Arrogance staggers; they cast themselves in myths.
Just under their skin, it’s all bitter pith.

Offended their “god” isn’t yours already.
They loathe seculars; whose happy’s steady.

The faithful kind are heirs via meekness.
The fervent cruel: convinced of uniqueness.

Cliff Hung

Bedridden fun for me has just passed.
A spell when energy was avast.

Where pain & tightness held & tortured.
Where drugs & rest both kept me cornered.

One thing broke & the body followed.
Convalescence: a hard pill swallowed.

It’s a lot for me to remain still.
Action & doing define my will.

So, there I wallowed; resenting life.
Letting all my self-esteem grow rife.

So, today, healed & right back at her.
Now, making sure my downtime time mattered.

Sunburned

Recall our youth when dawn’s light burned.
When night, by day, away was turned.

Fridays seventy-two hours long.
Held in a thrall by drugs & song.

Weekends contained only their nights.
Sun broke dawn & we slept thru light.

Eyes uncracked til late afternoon.
Indoors til outside’s lit by moon.

Day was meant to be slept away.
Evening’s dark was when we would play…

& play we did; ever so much.
Chemically fueled questing & such.

We sprinted home to beat bright wrath.
Now, the opposite is my path.

Revels in light & dreams at dark.
Now, wakeful midnights stand out stark.

Reconcile

The past can’t be changed; only balanced.
So, callus hands loading its ballast.

The weight of bad & the weight of good.
The weight of big pictures understood.

Counter destruction with creation.
Counter wild with solid foundation.

Level the scores between love & hate.
Level both hell & the pearly gates.

Whatever came unto you before…
Whatever colored in your soul’s core…

Is a thing you must balance ahead…
Be in the black before you are dead.

Flicker

Time, again, to inventory light.
Name the things in our lives that are bright.

Not the light at the ends of tunnels.
But, the light that every age funnels…

Into us, onto to us & colors our joy.
Those giddy feelings; boy meeting boy.

For, living provides us plenty bad.
So, we latch on to each happy fad.

Whatever helps us believe in hope…
&, that we’ve more light than dark; to cope.

Humors

Sooo much funny’s birthed by semantics.
Filterless speech meets syntax antics.

Funny rhymes, like smidgeon with pigeon.
Lingual laughs could be a religion.

Tone can be funnier than you’d think.
Then, weird pairings suddenly go clink.

One phrase is ending with “try & hide.”
The next finishes with “cyanide.”

There’s more than enough laugh-lines to find…
When, to funny, we’re bending our minds.

Creep

“God is watching you.” I’ve heard say…
God lurks in mysterious ways.

He peeps our doubt & peeps our praise…
Watching from the shadows most days.

In His name, a soldier slays.
In His name, nations are razed.

Those faithful fervent fully crazed?
Hope to avert God’s burning gaze.

His winding narrow holy maze?
Feels so mired with passé mores.

His omnipresent shepherd phase?
Staring thru us; His sight X-rays.

They say, of course, that, “Jesus Saves”;
But, Creepy attention?…“Jesus Pays.”
